Pivot Point to Ponder #11: Amplifying Your InadequaciesDec 06, 2022
You might reasonably ask, "Why would anyone want to amplify their inadequacies?" I don't recall a single instance where someone intentionally shared their shortcomings on social media platforms or on their resume. In fact, most people exert considerable effort to downplay or hide them altogether.
Interestingly, many of those same people have no problem amplifying their inadequacies when they talk to themselves. It's like they have an "internal bullhorn. " They use it to constantly remind themselves of their deficits. Many people achieve expert status in their use of negative self-talk. External criticism can reinforce pre-existing beliefs - real, imagined or exaggerated. But the most insidious culprit (as is so often the case) lies within ourselves. In the words of an old Pogo comic Strip, "We have met the enemy and it is us!"
How would your life would improve if you redirected that energy away from self-doubt and self-sabotage and toward more productive pursuits? How much joy will you create when the your social media images more accurately reflect the way you view yourself? To learn how I can help, schedule an initial consultation.
